I used to live my days like I was racing to the finish line. From the moment I woke until the moment my head hit the pillow, my waking minutes were filled with “stuff,” half of which didn’t deserved to be prioritized.
Stuff has a way of keeping us so busy we can barely breathe. These days, stuff can look like- getting kids ready for school, kicking off morning meetings, Zooming from one meeting to the next, working & emails in between, putting out fires, putting on dinner, transporting kids wherever they need to go, managing their schedule, your schedule, your weight, nurturing relationships, maintaining house, organizing thoughts, organizing calendar, preparing for tomorrow, rinse, and repeat. Monday is the start, Friday is the finish, and there is no room for interference once this sprint begins.
If you are like I was by the time Friday arrives, you don’t know what day it is, you have no sense of what was accomplished, and you’re just happy you survived the week fairly unscathed.
This isn’t living, it’s surviving.
Where did I begin? I started a bedtime ritual.
I really started to RECALIBRATE.
Here’s how it began:
I sat still. Instead of just rolling into bed, I allowed my head to clear.
I wrote. What did I accomplish? What do I intend tomorrow? What am I worried about?
I eliminated. What’s not important?
I decompressed. I read and put away my phone.
My 5 min check-in turned into a 30-45 min routine that I do every day. Here’s what happened:
I have better quality of sleep.
I feel more accomplished because I can see in plain ink all the progress.
I feel in charge of my choices.
I make healthier decisions.
Creating a sleep ritual has helped me reverse the feeling of being dragged through life. I call it a Beauty Booster bc it has the power to change how you live. I teach this as part of a very holistic path to well-being in my new program, Burnout to Beautiful.

Until then, start a 5 min ritual. See where it leads.
